Round 4 Report; Landrake Motoparc, Cornwall, 14th & 15th August

The MX Nationals British Championship team travelled south west to the picturesque Landrake Motoparc for the penultimate round of the 2021 series.

The excellent track was lined with banners and spectators, while the live streaming attracted a whopping audience of well over 40,000 viewers. Recent changes to the format of the MX Nationals meant that the Fastest 40 only raced on Sunday. Super-fast Harri Kullas powered his Cab Screen Crescent Yamaha to two smooth race wins, securing the 2021 Michelin/Milwaukee Pro MX1 championship in the process. Crendon Fast Track Honda’s Tommy Searle claimed two second place finishes, while Stuart Edmonds (Apico Husqvarna) and Evgeny Bobryshev took a third place apiece.

There were two race winners in the Michelin/Milwaukee Pro MX2 class, namely Jay Hague (Crendon Fast Track Honda) and Florian Miot (Par Homes Husqvarna) who made up for his first race DNF. The overall winner on the day Lewis Hall rode his RHR Yamaha to two seconds. Tom Grimshaw and Sam Nunn shared the third place spots.

Elsewhere on track, it was close at the top of the Apico Experts MX1with three wins and a second-place taking Joe Clayton to the overall win ahead of race two winner Josh Taylor. Ben Edwards was third overall. Bobby Bruce was once again the star of the Apico Experts MX2 as he pitched his 125 GasGas against the bigger machines. He won all four of his races. Gareth Padgett was a distant second, and Tom Murphy third.

After winning his first three races, Aiden McDonough messed up his fourth and last race of the weekend and had to settle for second. But he still won the Broadcliffe Amateur MX1 overall from race four winner Sean Wainwright and Harry Bradley third. It was tight at the top of the Broadcliffe Amateur MX2 class with a single point separating winner Aaron Ongley from Dan Brough in second, and third place man Shaun Springer a further three points adrift.

With four wins from four starts, Alex Christopher won the Moto Connection Clubman MX1 overall ahead of Ivan Kerr and Billy Saunders. In the Moto Connection Clubman MX1, George Boyce and Bradley Taylor were separated by just three points, with Charlie West rounding out the podium.

Youth

Tyler Westcott was inside the top three in the Bell MXY2 motos on his way to the overall with race one and four winners Alfie Jones second and Sam Atkinson third. Charlie Hayman was unbeaten in the Bell MXY125, winning all four of his races and was chased over the finish line each time by Joe Brookes. Jak Taylor finished third.

With two wins and two thirds, Ben Mustoe was the overall winner in the Syntol Big Wheel 85 group with Finley Evans and Tyla Hooley keeping him company. Cole McCullough was unbeaten in the Syntol Small Wheel 85s with Drew Stock and Gus Mustoe on equal points in second and third.

It’s all eyes now on the fifth and final round of the Michelin MX Nationals British Championship powered by Milwaukee which takes place this weekend at Cusses Gorse, Salisbury, and includes the highly-anticipated Saturday evening Straight Rhythm.

With only the Pro MX1 title sewn up, there’s still all to play for as all other classes are going to the wire – this is the one to watch!

Practice gets underway at 9am on Saturday and Sunday, with racing starting at 10.30. The Straight Rhythm will start at 7pm on Saturday night.

Tickets are available online HERE or at the gate. £20 for a weekend pass and £10 for camping.
