The second round of the Michelin MX Nationals British Championship returns to a completely overhauled and revitalised Preston Docks circuit this Saturday and Sunday, the 19th and 20th of May.
The team at the North West venue have pulled out all the stops to present competitors with a completely reshaped track, incorporating a totally new start area, that will run in the opposite direction to when the series last visited in April. If recent rider comments on social media are anything to go by, then it seems that Lee McGarry, of Preston Docks, and his crew have kept to their promise of creating a new and better layout, but they aren’t about to stop any time soon and track work will continue right up until practice gets underway at 9am on Saturday.
All class winners from the opening round will line up for round two. Currently storming the UK’s MX scene, Jake Nicholls will be determined to repeat his dominating Pro MX1 form and keep Mickey Eccles and Elliott Banks-Browne at bay. Whilst, over in the Pro MX2 class, Brad Anderson will be aiming to keep his two-stroke pinned out front and match his round one victory. He’ll have second and third-placed Mel Pocock and Jay Hague to contend with though, as well as the rest of the hard-charging four-strokes.
MX Nationals offers a whole weekend of entertainment and racing for the entire family. The weather forecast is looking good and the track is being watered daily. With 26 races over two days, and classes catering for SW/BW 85, MXY1 and 2, MX1 and MX2 Clubman, MX1 and MX2 Expert right through to the Pro MX1 and MX2 ‘Fastest 40’; it’s the perfect wedding and football-fever alternative!
Spectator weekend tickets are just £15 on the gate. Children aged 12 and under go free. Camping is available from Friday onwards for only £10. There’ll be on-site facilities as well as refreshments and trade stands.
